Close to the north pole and finish lapland. A weekend program of activities, accommodation and transport in Tromsø above the arctic circle. These activities are for families, couples and friends which desire adventures, romantic and peacful surroundings while searching for the northern lights, also called aurora borealis.

Arrival:

Accommodation:
Clarion hotel Bryggen: 4* A modern hotel located on the quay. The restaurant has a view to the harbour, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel has an outdoor hot tub overlooking the harbour, for guest usage.
Activities:
Day 1: Arctic Cruise by coach and Hurtigruten ship.

4pm. Coach to the village Skjervoy return on the coastal steamer: We recommend this local coach tour from Tromso city along and across fjords to Skjervoy. You drive through the pass between the great peaks of the Lyngen Alps – raging from 2000m above sea level straight into the sea. At Skjervoy the Coastal Steamer ship is waiting for you to embark. The journey goes among islands and islets in the outskirts of Tromso. From the ship it is possible to look for the northern lights. On request you can book dinner in the restaurant.
Day 2: Pick up at hotel
(10:00-18:00)
Tussøya: The tour will start with a boat trip from Lauklines. Then we will have a short hike on an island wrapped in legends and which is a shield against the storms coming in from the ocean. We will visit a person who is building up a museum for motor boats, to listen to the old engines and to get some information about how people lived in the old days. Our excursion will continue until we will relax down by the beach with a tasty meal in the open.
Day 3:

Tour at Mack Brewery: On the 30th of Sep¬tember 1927, when Di¬rector Lauritz Bredrup once again applied to open up a tavern where people might enjoy their drink in a seemly manner, he had no way of even ima¬gining that Ølhallen ('The Beer Hall') would, in time, become one of Tromsø's most popular tourist sites.
Ølhallen opened 29 February 1928. Join us on a tour at this northern most brewery in the world.
Northern lights photo tour (19:00-24:00)
Our expert northern lights photographer and guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you away from the lights of the city to the best possible place to see this incredible phenomenon. If conditions are right you’ll get to experience the dancing lights and learn the special techniques required to take your own photos of the Aurora Borealis. You’ll be out until at least midnight so bring some warm clothes and your camera.
Included: transport, information about this mystical phenomenon, advice on how to capture the northern lights on your own camera, and late night refreshments.
Day 5:

Arctic city walk: You are met by our guide at your hotel and brought outdoors on a historical and cultural city walk through Tromso city. During this walk you visit the Polar Museum ansd the Catholic Church with your guide. The grand finale is enjoying lunch and a glass of wine/ beer in the old World Theatre.
(18:00-21:00)
Fjord fishing: The old fishing vessel MS Signe will bring you out on the fjord to where the cod and coalfish live. Using a rod or the traditional Norwegian Jukse you can feel the joy and excitement of fishing, or the irritation of not catching anything when everybody else does. Fresh fish is cooked and served with flat bread and butter.
Day 6:
Polaria and the Art Museum: Visit the environmental information centre and aquarium in Tromso. At the Polaria you will be able to watch a film from Spitsbergen as well as seeing seals swimming around.
The art museum displays paintings from north Norway. Most of these have been painted by foreign artists who was captured of the magic in the north.

Trek with huskies and search for Northern lights: Experience Northern Norway's unique arctic landscape with a trekk suitable for all fitness levels. An experienced outdoor guide with real racing huskies, carrying all the needed gear, will guide you on a hike through rolling arctic hills overlooking Norway's famous fjords. You will also grill your own food over an open campfire with the help of the guide and being served hot coffee and delicious homemade chocolate cake. Being out in the wilderness means there is always the possibility to see the north's native wildlife.

Your senses are opening as you leave the plane at Tromsø Lufthavn. Are you ready for an unforgettable stay in Tromsø? Whether the sun is shining, the wind blowing, the rain dropping or the clouds are hanging down the mountainsides, you will not feel the same again once you have been here, so close to the top of the globe.
Friday evening: Look for the ever changing Northern Lights: Go by the local ferry that traffics the Tromsø district. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in the afternoon. He will take you to the local ferry that traffics the outer part of Tromsø Municipality. Whether you see the aurora borealis as a red, white, green, purple and blue coloured curtain-cloud that whirles around in the sky, or you see it as a white, grey, yellow path that stretches from north to south or east to west, it is truly magical. Remember that the sea can be rough in wintertime. Ginger tea will treat sea sickness, bring some if you like.
Saturday: Shopping in Tromsø: After a late breakfast at the hotel you are ready to go shopping in Tromsø. We recommend the shops and boutiques in the city, as they carry the latest fashions from central Europe, locally made products and special designed items. Tromsø, also called Paris of the north, by foreign visitors in the 1800’s, partly because of the fashionable way Tromsø people dressed and partly because of the mood in the city. During your day of shopping, we recommend lunch at Aunegården or at Circa. When you finally are ready for dinner we recommend Arctandria restaurant, Peppermøllen, Fiskecompagniet and Emmas Drømmekjøkken.
Saurday evening: Northern Lights visit: Your hosts will pick you up at your hotel and take you to their farm 20 minutes from Tromsø. The cosy bonfire in their lavvo will warm you before you go out and look for the Northern Lights, also called aurora borealis. Whether you see it as a red, white, green, purple and blue coloured curtain-cloud that whirles around in the sky, or you see it as a white, grey, yellow path that stretches from north to south or east to west, it is truly magical.
Sunday: Sightseeing to Sommarøy: A perfect end on an active weekend in Tromsø. Enjoy relaxing in a minibus watching the majestic scenery pass by. Reindeer and sea eagles can be seen. Occasionally small whales swim in the sound, if you are lucky you might spot one. Your guide will stop at lakes and scenic places There will be a stop at the very special Marihøna Museumskafe. Eldrid and Leif will be ready to serve you some of their homemade specialities.
